Honourable Artillery Company (HAC) Commemorative Coin

Honourable Artillery Company (HAC) Commemorative Coin

Medals UK was approached by the Honourable Artillery Company and commissioned to produce a commemorative coin to mark 480 years since the Company – or ‘the HAC’ – was incorporated by a royal charter of King Henry VIII on 25th August 1537. The Honourable Artillery Company (HAC) Commemorative Coin was produced in silver with a frosted finish and red detailing and measures 50mm in diameter. Presented in a clear decorative capsule.

The design features the “short arms” badge worn by the Officers and Warrant Officers, and on it’s reverse the Grenade worn by ranks below Sergeant.

In 1830 King William IV ordered that the HAC uniform should be based on that of the Grenadier Guards, except that where the Grenadiers wear gold, they were to wear silver; the silver colour therefore, is reminiscent of the HAC dress uniform, which silver buttons and lace.
